Itinerary Example

My mom recently visited, so my sister and I spent some time coming up with a plan that would squeeze in the most possible activities and be time/gas efficient. I've posted her itinerary below (not that we stuck to it or anything) just as an example. This one obviously won't be very strenuous, but you can replace things as needed.

Day 1 - Kailua area
- Hike Maunawili Falls
- Lunch in Kailua
- Rent Kayaks in Kailua - paddle out to offshore island/ sand castles on Lanikai beach
- Happy hour/dinner at Pinky's
Day 2
Morning: Ride bikes to Ko Olina lagoons - enjoy beach or amazing breakfast buffet.
10:00 - Head out to the Polynesian Cultural Center - spend the day enjoying the park, with a luau and fire show at night.
Home around 9-10 pm.

Day 3 - the North Shore
- Dole Pineapple Plantation on the way
- great shopping/art gallery in Halewa
- Lunch at Giovanni's Shrimp Shack
- A variety of great beaches to check out: Rock-jumping at picturesque Waimea Bay, Lost Beach, Surfers at Sunset Beach, or snorkeling at the Three Tables
- Matsumoto Sno Cones at some point
- Dinner (refer to dining guide to pick a place)
Home around 8 or 9ish. Margaritas and hot tub if desired.

Day 4 - Hawaii Kai
- The best snorkeling on the island at Hanuma Bay
- Sea Life Park
- Dinner at Kona Brewery (or even somewhere downtown)

Day 5 - Waikiki
-If a weekday, take The Boat into town - possible dolphin/whale sightings
- Chinatown - interesting food markets, if you like that kind of thing.
- International Marketplace Waikiki/shops
- Lunch
- Waikiki Beach - can rent surfboards, if interested.
- Various attractions: Zoo, Aquarium, Botanical Gardens, Iolani Palace
- Dinner in town or a shorter day in town with a BBQ on the beach at home.

Day 6 - Waianae (the local side)
- Snorkeling at Makaha Beach
- Lunch at Makaha Golf Club
- Hike around Kaena Point - see monk seals, albatross nesting areas
- Dinner at home

Day 7 - Travel Day
- hang out close to home in Ko Olina - snorkel various coves
- Bike to views - great reading spot, or try your hand at painting the landscape
- lunch at Marriott Beach Bar

Possible Replacement Activities:

Waianae
- snorkeling/sight seeing cruise

Kailua
- kayak out to sunken islands for BBQ instead
- take surfboard/ boogie boards to Dunes Beach (great consistent waves!)

Travel Day
- take surfboard to White Plains for some surf lessons

North Shore
- rent scuba equipment and head out for a dive
- rent jet skis (around $50 for 1/2 day)

Waikiki
- surfing lessons
- deep-sea fishing ($$$)
- hike Manoa Falls
